Fantasy Baseball Week 12

What a disappointing week. I lost 6-5-1, but was definitely up 7-4-1 going into the last day. Needless to say everything was really close. A-Rod was again my superstar, along with recent pickup Yovani Gallardo from the Brewers. In his first two games, he gave me one win, 12 K's, and a nice ERA/WHIP of 2.70/1.05.

Having BJ Upton on the DL really hurt me. Matsui just does not hit the same way. Unfortunatly, who knows what kind of shape Upton will be in when he returns. I may have to fix that problem now. After Morneau got hurt, I picked up Dmitri Young, who has been having a decent year.

I am still in first place, but Offord is gaining on me. If I do not win this week, he could overtake me for the lead. I already made a huge mistake this week, and it cost me big time. I will discuss that next week though. Let's just say I thought I hit submit before I left for Kennywood and came home to find out that I did not.

Kennywood

Yesterday I went to Kennywood with Kacie and Karen. It was a very good time for all of us. We rode plenty of rides, ate lots of food (especially funnel cake) and make fun of people from West Virginia who say Roll-EE-Coaster.

I was very disappointed with one ride though, the Phantom's Revenge. I used to love the Steel Phantom, with all it's loops and drops, but the Revenge has no loops, corkscrews, or anything like that. Yeah it goes fast, but what is speed without a bit of spinning to screw with your equilibrium?

Anyone who has ever been to Kennywood, ever notice how weird Noah's Ark is? It is like a haunted house, but based on a religious story. I really have no clue what the story behind it is, except that you get in an elevator, they say it is a very old shaft, it plummets to the ground, and then you walk through a mine, and end up on the Ark. Then you leave and get stuck in a room where water shoots at you. It makes no sense to me.

Being there reminded me that I definitely want to make a trip out to Cedar Point this summer. Kacie and Karen would like to go, and we would love anyone else to come with us, especially odd numbers of people. It sucks being in a group of three because you have to figure out who rides with who and what not. So if you want to go, either bring a ride partner, or come single and be Karen's partner.

I will add some pictures soon, once Kacie sends them to me, or if she puts them on her blog I will let people know.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

After seeing the preview of the movie where Johnny Storm chases after the Surfer and then gets choked, I was pretty excited about the movie. Silver Surfer looked amazing. Unfortunately, that was all I really needed to watch.

The movie turns out to be 92 minutes of cheesy one-liners, team bickering, and way too much information about the wedding of the century. Also, the best way to stop a galactic threat that devours planets: Jessica Alba's hotness. Apparently, that was all it took. Not the powers of the Fantastic Four, not Reed's intellect, just one sexy chick.

Dr. Doom returns, and gives the FF a nice little fight, but it really was not all that special. The FF did nothing, and pretty much relied on the hope that Silver Surfer would change his mind and stop Galactus.

Let me move on to a few of the positives. Silver Surfer did look amazing, and I am very excited about the idea of his own movie, especially if it gets a PG13 or R rating. Chris Evans (Johnny Storm/Human Torch) does another great job playing the cocky superhero. I really think they should pair him with Spider-Man in a movie (those two often teamed up in comics, and they are pretty good friends).

Anyways, umm, yeah there really is not much to say about the movie.

Comic Book Movie Grade: D-

Fantasy Baseball Week 11

My dominance continued last week with a 7-4-1 win over Singer's Sluggers. That keeps me in first place with a 76-43-13 record. My hitting has been struggling as of late except for the mighty A-Rod and Orlando Cabrera. My pitching was pretty much awesome. Two complete games, one by Ian Snell (which I was at) and the other by Zambrano (although, he did not get the win). There is really not too much to say about it.

BJ Upton went on the DL, so I picked up Kaz Matsui, I might drop him and pick up someone else. I am still shocked that no one has Dmitri Young yet, the guy is hitting well.

This week I play Yankees Suck, and as of now he is winning, but I think that will change.

My New Place

I am finally unpacked (mostly) and figured I would share some pictures of my new place with most of you, since not too many of you will be down to visit me.

This is my living room, with my cool Spider-Man blanket over the couch.
My desk and the kickass spiral staircase. I need a robe so I can come down the staircase all sexy-like.

Yeah, this is the kitchen. It's like a second desk for me.

My bedroom, with plenty of books. My room is huge, I feel like I should hold Sumo matches in there.

The closet that is about as big as my old apartment. And yes those are tons of comic books, seriously, they may weigh like 3 tons or something.

And this also came with my apartment.....

Okay, I am kidding, but I figured some of you might enjoy a picture of a hot pornstar after looking at lame pictures of an apartment.

Fantasy Baseball Week 10

Back in first place. 69-39-12, which puts me 5.5 games ahead of Offord. I said last week that I would be back with a vengeance, and I definitely took it to Imler, 9-2-1. Ryan climbed his way closer to the pack, now only 9 games back, and only 1 game back from Imler for 4th place.

The two categories I lost were stolen bases and saves. What can you do when Carl Crawford steals 5 bases in one week, not a whole lot apparently. My big player for the week was A-Rod, batting .400, with 16 RBIs, and 4 HR. Orlando Cabrera also had a big week, 13 hits and 8 RBIs. JD Drew finally came around, but I had him on the bench for one of his 3 hit days, but got him for the 2 HRs and 7 RBIs, it's about damn time he started doing something.

Pitching was nothing to brag about. Zambrano finally had a nice game, but everyone else pitched average, or if they pitched well, they did not get the win. Homer Bailey got a win, but his line was not all that great, but it was against the Indians.

This week I take on Singers Sluggers, who is somewhere toward the bottom of the standings, 8th to be precise. I doubt there will be much to worry about from him, but you never know.

Pirates Baseball

Tonight the Pirates take on the Yankees. Anyone remember what happened last time these teams met? I do. The Pirates were at .500, and the Yankees were playing horribly. The Yankees swept the Bucs and went on to win the division, the Pirates lost like the next 91 games or something crazy like that.

Tomorrow night the Rocket makes his debut for the Yanks, and what better team for him to get his feet wet than the Pirates. It would be great though if the Pirates beat up on him, since he makes more per game than most of the Pirates make per season.

Yesterday the Pirates drafted Daniel Moskos, a LHP out of Clemson. Personally, I wish they had drafted a position player, or at least a pitcher who does not project to be a reliever, but this is the Pirates. Anyone want to take bets on when Moskos has Tommy Johns surgery? I know that is not nice to say, and I hope he does well and maybe can come up and be the closer in the future, but the Pirates have very bad luck with pitchers and TJ.

The Pirates should have went out on a limb and took either Matthew Dominguez, a HS 3B who can also play SS. He seems to be a pretty solid power hitter, which is something Pirates need. Or LF Matthew LaPorta, who I am sure could be moved to RF, and also can hit the ball rather well.

Oh well, at least the Buccos are committed to not winning.

Wanna Fight About It?

For those of you with Adam and I yesterday (which would be Kacie, Karen, and my mom), this was what Adam and me kept saying while unpacking stuff at my apartment. For the rest of you, well enjoy a fun Family Guy clip.

Drinking Stories

Let me take you back to 1999. It was sometime after graduation and before the time when I had to leave for Gannon. Two of my female friends, we shall call them X and Y wanted me to go to a party at some chick's apartment.

Once I got there, everything was going fine, beer was being drank, there was talk of dying my hair blue, whatever. Two of the guys there were, what is the word I am looking for? Oh yeah, deuschebags. They were in their mid-20s and would probably be working at a gas station for the rest of their lives, and were proud of that.

The one D-Bag, who I will call DB1, says that he plans on getting so drunk that he ends up pissing on the floor. I made a joke about how I had done that before and it's never a good idea. Everyone laughs.

Later in the evening, after I am really feeling it, DB1 and his friend DB2 tell me that the chick who lives at the apartment, we will call her C-Bag, wants to speak with me outside.

When I get out there she starts asking me if I plan on pissing on her floor, which I respond no to and that DB1 had made a comment about it, not me. She says that DB1 and DB2 heard me say I wanted to piss on her floor and since she has known them for longer than she's known me, she believes them. I say whatever and tell her that I will just leave then.

She then yells at me and says I'm not going anywhere, which makes me laugh and I walk past here. I should mention that I am not wearing a shirt at this point and was trying to get inside to grab my shirt and flip-flops. DB2 grabs me and shoves me into the wall. Then DB1 grabs me by the throat and starts smashing me into the very nice stucco wall causing my back to start bleeding.

I start to walk away towards the stairs and DB1 shoves me and I fall down the stairs. Getting splinters in my feet. I start to crawl up the driveway, and DB1 continues to beat on me. He is kicking me in the ribs. Finally I have had enough and kick his knee as hard as I could, dropping DB1 to the ground. I have heard he has a slight limp from it. Good for him.

Anyways, I get up and start walking towards home and stumble upon Sheetz. I go in and the girl working bandages me up. I start walking home again when I stumble on the road, causing a car to stop. The guy offers me a ride, which I take.

Turns out the guy is a Catholic Priest on his way to Iowa at 3 a.m. He and I discuss religion and I argue against the existence of god and whatnot. He drops me off at my house and as I get out, my friend, X, comes flying down the road. She pulls into my driveway with my shirt and flip-flops. She feels really bad about what happened and we sit in her car and talk for a bit. One thing leads to another, and well, let's just say the night was not a total loss. That means I had sex for those of you who are not too quick.

Here is a nice little comic to show you how the evening went, and also to show you how bad of an artist I am.

Life Update

So yeah. I finally got a new phone, only took me about a billion months. I bought the Motorola Q, and have been playing with it nonstop. I expect a few more posts on here of random pictures I take.

Most of my stuff is moved into my apartment. Tomorrow we are going down to clean and set up most of my stuff. Well I will probably sleep, since I get off work at 7:00 a.m.

The party is still on Saturday, I think the Jell-o Wrestling may now be turning into Mud Wrestling. Either way, chicks grabbing each other in bikinis sounds good to me. I hope to see many of you there.

I really do not know what I am going to write about until TV shows come back, yeah that is kind of sad, I know this. I may write about some of the crazy times I have had while drinking, some will be funny, some will be sad, and some will be downright weird. I may also put the picture from Jordan up and continue to talk about the exciting time there, only like 3 years late on that one. Anyone else have a suggestion?

Fantasy Baseball Week 9

Don't be frightened, the titled is the same as last weeks because I realized that I screwed up about 3 weeks ago and that the title was not synced up with the week on Yahoo!.

I guess Gideon was right. I should have been afraid. He beat me. Not only did he beat me, but he pretty much bent me over a table, and well you get the picture. Talk about a bad week. I lost, 10-1-1. How far did that drop me in the standings? Oh, second place, yeah that's right, it's not that big a deal. Offord is ahead of me by one game, if Imler could have tied him this week 5-5-2, I think that would have kept me in first place, oh well.

Where did things go wrong? Well Ordonez, Peralta, Byrnes, and Beltre all hit .400 for the week. Byrnes and Pujols both had 3 HR's each. Gideon's team played phenomenal, and I give him props for that.

Actually let me show you the final stats for each other.
Team R H HR RBI SB AVE W CG K SV ERA WHIP
Me 40 62 6 26 5 .278 4 0 38 3 3.75 1.21
Gideon 46 75 12 41 4 .305 5 2 44 3 2.96 1.04

It's not like my team played particularly bad, they just did not play as well as Gideon's team. I mean, 2 CG's? One of them James Shields???

Anyways, Josh Hamilton comes back this week, which means my outfield will add a little more power. I guess he is crushing the ball back at AAA after his rehab assignment. I dropped Claudio Vargas, who really had great starts against the Pirates (but who hasn't?) and pretty much been mediocre the rest of the way. I added Homer Bailey, the Reds phenom pitcher who gets a crack this week.

I have added Alex Gonzalez, not because I need a SS, but really so no one else could grab him. He's playing well right now, and has like 10 HRs, unfortunately I cannot justify starting him over Cabrera, who is also hitting well, not a power guy, but he does get the runs, hits, and average up.

I traded Chone Figgins and Ronnie Paulino to Ryan for Russel Martin, who has been hitting rather well. Figgins may heat up, but he was just wasting roster space for me at the moment. I may try and trade Zambrano. He is hard to part with, mostly because I believe he will turn it around, but who knows. I may also drop JD Drew. The dude has been worthless this year. I have him benched right now in favor of: Chris Duffy. Yeah, that's how bad Drew has been. Hell this was my outfield this week: Carlos Lee (GREAT), Mark Teahen (Okay), Xavier Nady (umm, yeah). With Houston having off today, I had to put Duffy into the lineup too, wow, that is one ugly outfield.

Anyways, good luck to Imler because last time my team lost, I came back with a vengeance. Although, his team is tough, and it will probably be a good matchup again.

24: The Last Episodes

So I finally watched the final episodes of 24. Wow, not very good. I really do not have too much to say except that I was very disappointed in this season. They better have something amazing in store for next season.

I guess next season will not take place in CTU, and that Jack may even travel abroad. How the hell will that be possible? Unless he goes to Canada or Mexico? It took me 14 hours to get to Jordan, I really do not want to watch Jack on a plane for 14 hours. Unless the plot revolves around a plane, which would then be like an number of crappy movies.

I am sorry that this is so negative, I have a bad cold, and a slight fever. But seriously, this season blew.
