newton's law

Lookin' like a stud in the t-shirt I got him for his birthday.

See that smile? He's all like, "Just try and resist me, ladies."

Except not really, because he's much more humble than that (humbler? Yeah, that's what that university degree is doin' for me).

cutest nephew contest

Jack

Kamdyn

 I win.

Note: That's a whole lot of ravioli on K's face... And apparently when he sneezed, ravioli came out his nose... Yes, even THAT is adorable.

"one" more (ha! get it?)

birthday boy

Andrea posted some birthday photos... This kid kills me.

ONE.

Ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased to announce that as of today, August 18th, 2011, Mr. Kamdyn Michael has joined the ranks of One Year Olds. He will serve proudly and diligently for his one year term. He will uphold the proud name of "One". He will make his voice be heard. And he will, above all else, be adorable.

Yes, little man turns one today and it's hard to believe that a year ago he was just getting here!

Happy birthday Kamdyn! You are a very loved little boy from coast to coast! Can't wait to see you continue growing into the amazing little person you already are!

Though his birthday isn't until the 18th, Kamdyn is already enjoying his 1st birthday present!

frogs and snails and puppy-dogs' tails!

Hello Jack!

Wearing the little hat I got him when he was born!

Kamdyn is clearly thrilled by flotation devices.

It's amazing how much he looks like his uncle!
That's what little boys are made of!

Well, the votes are in and it's unanimous... I have the two cutest nephews in the world.

Laura sent me the top photo of Baby Jack this morning - there are few better ways to wake up an hour before your alarm goes off! I actually giggled out loud at the sweetness of his little face. I can't believe he's holding his head up, he's so strong!

And to further my incredulity, Kamdyn will be ONE YEAR OLD in two weeks! Just incredible. He's growing up into such a little man (I'm trying to figure out how to get a couple of videos that Andrea posted on FB up on here to drive the point home how adorable this little guy is!)

Oh, I wish these two lived closer! Why are Montana and Indiana so far away!?

the wee one

It's hard to believe that Jack will be four weeks old tomorrow! He's already getting bigger and stronger and more handsome... I probably took about a hundred pictures of him today. Laura and I had lunch at Deschutes which turned into hanging out and waiting for John to join us, which turned into walking around downtown and showing off the little soybean at LRT, which turned into heading back to their apartment and playing with the dogs, John ordering us Chinese food and pouring glasses of pinot while we played with the baby and he met some friends to watch a basketball game. What a lovely day! Laura and I have a habit of turning "lunch" into "the next 6-9 hours" as we tend to lose track of time whenever we're together. It's an MO we're pretty happy with actually (and Jack doesn't seem to mind either).

dribble the baby

Disclaimer: please do not think I am in some way advocating abuse. This is merely entertaining wording for bizarre, but sometimes necessary parenting/aunt-ing routines.

Anyway, so yes, after a day of hanging out with my lovelies at LRT, Laura and I decided to treat ourselves to Little Big Burger (I got a burger with chevre and their french fries come doused in white truffle oil and sea salt... How is this a bad idea?) (::considers current waistline::) (Oh, that's how). We sat and talked boys, babies and work as we dipped our little frites into this amazing fry sauce concoction they leave so tantalizingly on the table in front of you, practically force feeding you with some Jedi mind tricks... Where was I?

Oh... So seeing how Portland has decided to catch back up with itself and rain again, after this late lunch, I gave baby-lady a ride home and as I was saying goodbye to her, and soon-to-be-Jack, she let me feel his little head against her belly and... Wait for it... Bounce it! OK, this is probably not a great idea but just a gentle nudge and I could feel his tiny dome float briefly away and back again. It was so cool! Though it has led to us referring to this practice as "dribbling the baby".

Not to be confused with "shaving the baby", as demonstrated by Jared on a three month old Kamdyn in the photo above (the first time we met the little man and he had almost no hair except this little mullet-like strip at the nape of his neck so Andrea authorized his first haircut at the hands of his uncle).

Kids are fun.

kam-ouflage

Little boy's all ready for rabbit season. Or duck season.

(I could just squeal he is so cute!)

throw your hands up

Oh, yeah, Kamdyn's just raising his hand because he thought someone just asked "Who here can sit up and pull himself up all on his own?"

I just had to post these pictures of Jared's nephew...
