Cry Me a River

If you are offended by vulgar language, this post will most likely offend you.

I have had a few bad days and I figured you would love to know about it.  Thursday I went down to Pittsburgh for the Pirates game.  Unfortunately, no one would go with me, which I was actually okay with.

I went to Rivers Casino first and played Three-Card Poker for about two hours.  At one point, I was up $150, but then I went on a losing streak and ended down $25.  I walked over to the game and had great seats (I used my coupon and got a free ticket).  The Buccos lost to the Dodgers and pretty much played like crap.  I then left and came home.

I changed into my Steeler jersey and went over to the YP to watch the final preseason game.  Needless to say, I had a bit too much to drink and Lindsey had to drive me home when she was done with work.  Yay for being responsible!

The next day when we got my car, I noticed that my mirror was knocked off and my Batman hoodie was missing.  Ugh, some asshole decided to steal my favorite hoodie!

Today I went to work a few hours early because we were getting the Washington & Jefferson College football team and I did all the work setting it up, so I wanted to be there to make sure it went smoothly.  It definitely went well.  Unfortunately, later things happened and I ended up staying and pulling a 14 hour day (15 if you count driving time).

Sadly, on the way to work, I got pulled over and the cop gave me a speeding ticket.  Great, a speeding ticket, at work for 14 hours, missed college football, favorite hoodie stolen, lost money at the casino, saw the Pirates lose...ugh.

Then as I was in the shower, it occurred to me to stop being such a fucking crybaby!  I mean seriously Josh, get real.  These are your problems?  Grow the fuck up.  There are people who have no jobs, no car, no spare cash to go to a casino or a baseball game.  There are people who work 15 hours a day for shitty pay.  There are people who wonder where they will sleep tonight or if they will have anything to eat.  You are whining about losing a hoodie?  Granted, it was a gift from my brother, but let us look at some of the facts:

-You left your doors unlocked in Ebensburg.  Of course someone is going to open the door and take your hoodie.  Way to go moron.

-You got a ticket because you were speeding, suffer the consequences dickwad.

-You worked that long because you wanted to help out and you know that at some point you can leave early.  Do not act like you were forced into it.  Hell, you could have left early since you came in early.

-You lost money at the casino because like a dumbass, you decided to up your bet because you thought you were on a hot streak.  You know better than this!  When you gamble like an idiot, you deserve to lose.

Instead of crying about what you do not have, be thankful for the things you do have:  a beautiful girlfriend, who loves you even when you are an idiot;  a great family; a job that you actually enjoy; a place to live; and you know, all that other stuff.

Myrtle Beach Trip

We made it back from Myrtle Beach.  I know most of you were a little worried (and by that I mean, no one even noticed I was gone).  Allow me to recount an amazing trip.

Tuesday
Actually, I need to jump back to Monday real quick.  I decided to sleep all day and then sleep as late as possible so we could leave around 1:00 a.m.  Unfortunately, I woke up at 6:45 p.m. and could not fall back asleep.  We ended up leaving at 1:30 (after the Pirates game).

We made it to Maryland when Lindsey fell asleep.  The GPS took us through DC instead of going to Winchester and since I have no clue how to use a GPS, I just followed the directions I was given.  Luckily I missed the DC traffic by about 45 minutes.  Looking in my rear-view mirror, it looked like there cars just lining up everywhere.

I kept on driving for most of the morning and decided it was time to wake Lindsey up when we hit North Carolina.  We stopped at Cracker Barrel for breakfast and after that Lindsey took over the rest of the way.

We got there around 1:00 and decided to try and find me some swimming trunks (are they still called that, or am I really showing my age?).  I found a pair and we went to the hotel (Hotel Blue) and asked if it would be possible to check-in early.  The guy said that the room was ready.

By this point, I was completely exhausted.  We went down to the pool and decided to get a couple drinks at the swim up bar.  I laid there, but could not fall asleep.  Later, we went out to eat at Landshark and then went over to Broadway to see the fireworks.

Wednesday
We got up and went down to the beach and sweated like crazy.  Seriously, it was a little warm.  I have not been in the ocean since I was like 13 years old.  I may have went in during my beach trip when I was in high school, but I honestly do not remember.  After about an hour of sitting there reading my book, I asked Lindsey if she wanted to go into the water.

Allow me to explain something.  I did not learn to swim until I was 13 years old.  I had a pretty serious fear of water until then and I was able to overcome it on my own and teach myself to swim (yeah, I am awesome).  The one thing that I will never really get used to though, is being in the ocean.  Some people have a fear of the animals living in the water.  I am no longer afraid, but I still give the water a healthy bit of respect.  I just like to relax out there and not do anything crazy.

That night we went out to Broadway.  We ate dinner at Senor Frogs (I had been there before) and had some drinks there.  After that we walked around and drank at a bunch of other bars.  Here are some pictures.

After dinner, we hit up the mini-golf real for a quick game.  Lindsey talked a ton of smack since the trip to Ohio when she beat me.  Well, this time I took it seriously and beat her.  I shot a -1, she was like a +3.  HAHA!

We then went to Margaritaville and had a couple drinks there, the server wanted us to stick around because we were his last table and this large group was scoping out our table.  Luckily we could oblige him since Lindsey is the slowest drinker on the planet.  Also, sticking around allowed us to hear this song by the band.

From there we went over to Charlie's and drank some beer and enjoyed the music of Axl Rose and Slash.  Well, a fatter Axl Rose.  They did a few songs by GNR, but a ton of other covers.  They were not too bad.
Then after awhile, we saw something great.  Some lady started puking her guts up and her husband was trying to be all sweet and pour water on her.  Here is the picture I was able to take.

We called our cab and went back to the room.  Our cab driver's name was Glen.  He was quite a character.  On our trip to Broadway, he told us some good stories about different fares he had from North Carolina.  In fact, he would pretty much not shut up.  Good guy though, told us where to go at Broadway, and seemed to really want us to have a good time.

Thursday
A bit of the same as the day before.  Beach, swim, read, lunch, drink, beach, swim, read, drink.  Great day, actually could you have a better day than that?

That night, we went up to Barefoot Landing and ate at Dick's Last Resort.  I had heard stories about the place and I always wondered if the servers would be as abusive as people claimed.

I mean, the server could not cross certain lines, right?  Well I was wrong, they cross every line imaginable.  They call people retards, make jokes about girls being whores, call guys queer, and pretty much anything else.  They also made us sit together at a giant picnic table, we joined another party of two and a group of six.  The people we were with were pretty cool.

They made us wear these hats that our server forced us to make.  She then wrote very dirty things on them.  Here is mine:
Here is Lindsey's:
After Dick's we walked around Barefoot Landing for awhile, did some shopping and whatnot.  We went back to the hotel and had a little fun on our balcony...if you know I mean.

Friday
We woke up pretty early and walked to breakfast.  We ate at the National House of Pancakes, or N'hop as I called it.  This is funny because we saw a waffle place and Lindsey called it IWOP, which cracked her up.  It took her a few minutes to realize that IWOP would be international waffle of pancakes.  She should have said IHOW.

We went to the pool and hung out for awhile, but then it looked like rain, so went up to the room and decided to head back to Broadway to do some shopping.  We bought a few things and then ate at Joe's Crab Shack.

We came back to the room and got cleaned up and went out to Murphey's Law Sport's Bar, which everyone said is a Steelers bar and would most likely have the game.  Unfortunately, they did not have the game, but they had football on and they had the Pirates on.  So needless to say, I was happy.  We both got pretty drunk and then I started falling asleep, so Lindsey said we had to go back to the room.  Do I look drunk?

Saturday
We woke up and checked out.  Then we went for breakfast and went up to the outlets to do some shopping.  I know, we did a good amount of that.  We walked around and looked at work clothes for Lindsey, it was pretty exciting.  Then we made our way for home.  That was probably the roughest drive ever.  I was so damn tired.  We took shifts driving, but neither of us could fall asleep while the other drove.  We made it home safely though and then went to bed.  It was such a great trip.  Mainly because I had such a great girl to spend time with...

Okay, here are some more pictures:

Damn I am a sexy guy in that Hawaiian shirt...

A fire-breathing dragon and an Elvis impersonator!  This place has everything!

Now, here comes one of my weird moments.  One of the days were in the water, we noticed people pointing at something near us.  It kind of freaked us out because we heard the word "shark."  We came out of the water and a little bit later, a guy and his kid's came out of the water.  He said that he saw a 3-foot hammerhead shark.

He said it was swimming in between people and he followed it around for a bit until his two daughters got scared because they thought there might be a mommy shark around.  I watched the water for awhile and then the weird moment happened.  I hoped someone would get attacked.  I KNOW!  I am a weirdo, I just kept wondering how I would react.  Would I rush to help the person once they were pulled from the water, would I throw up, what would happen?  Luckily, no one actually got hurt.

This was some of the stuff at Murphey's Law, as you can see there were a good amount of Steelers stuff.  Also, some great Lemieux and Van Slyke posters.

I am sure I have bored you enough.

Beach Girls

These are some of the hot girls I have seen at the beach, who deserve to be my GOTW.

Actually, these pictures were found through Google before I left, but I figured you would enjoy them.  My real GOTW is obviously Lindsey.

Myrtle Beach Time

I am on vacation.  Thank the imaginary man in the sky that so many people worship!  It is about time, I am pretty much burnt out.  Last vacation we went to North Carolina, this time we are heading to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  We were going to take a little trip to Ocean City, MD, but then we started looking at the prices and it turns out that Myrtle Beach was cheaper and for the same price we could stay an extra day.  This is my first trip there, so needless to say I am pretty excited.  Just look at this place:

First though, we are making a quick weekend trip out to Ohio to visit Lindsey's grandmother.  I think we are going to the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, so that should be pretty cool to check out.

I know that most of you are in a panic because of a lack of posts while I am away.  Fortunately, I have worked on a few posts for you folks.  Try not to miss me too much!

Monday's Antics

Last week I looked at my schedule and realized that Lindsey and I were both off on Monday.  I decided we should head to Pittsburgh to watch the Buccos take on the Reds.  We left here around 3:00, which was a little later than I would have liked.  I wanted to get there pretty early so we could head to the casino.  Unfortunately, Lindsey got stuck doing errands, which sucked for me since I woke up early, even though I worked third shift the night before and fell asleep around 8:30 a.m.

We got to the stadium around 5:00 and hopped in line for tickets.  I know, can you believe I just typed those words:  a line for tickets...Anyways, I had coupons that I bought from work so our tickets were free.  We then walked over to Finnigan's for some beers and food.

As we sat there eating, it started to pour down rain and then it started thundering.  I checked on twitter and found out that the tarp was being put on the field and the game would be delayed.  We sat there and had a few more beers.

We finally went over to the stadium at about 7:45.  We sat down (our seats were in section 127, pretty good considering they were free).  The game started and things started out poorly.  With the bases loaded and two outs the lightning and rain returned.  At first we were not get wet because we were just under the second level, but then it started raining harder and we decided to get up and walk around.

We adventured around the park for a bit, but then we grew bored of walking and went to grab a beer.  I bought a Penn Pilsner and we stood around waiting for the start of the game.  I was able to get some peanuts off the people beside us, which I think embarrassed Lindsey.  I turned and asked the guy if I could have a peanut, he looked at me like I was nuts (HAHA, pun intended!), but then his wife was like "yeah, you can have some."  I took one because I am not greedy, but then she laid a huge handful on our little table.  When they got up to leave she gave us some more.  I like that lady.

The rain was coming down pretty hard and it really did not look like there was any end in sight.  It slowed down just enough for us to make a decision:  stay and wait it out, or head to the casino.  If we stayed and the game started around 9:30 or 10:00, the game would most likely not be over until 12:30 or 1:00.  We would not get home until 3:00 or 4:00.

After considering all of that, we decided to leave and go to the casino.  Lindsey met her friend Kristina there and I went over to play three-card poker.  I started with $100 and after losing the first couple of hands, there was a dealer change.  This lady was fantastic!

Actually, she was a terrible dealer.  Twice she misread my hand and was about to short me money, luckily the guy beside me caught it since I was watching the Pirates game on a TV above us.  Then, she paid me out as a winner when I clearly had nothing.  Luckily the guy beside me did not say anything.  Aside from those idiotic things, I was also on a nice hot streak.  At one point I had $400 in chips.  I kept hoping Lindsey would come by and say that she was ready to go.

Granted, I could have quit playing and just walked away, but what fun would there be in that?  Anyways, she never came around and the original dealer came back.  I then hit a major cold streak.  The kind of streak where if you have a pair of kings, the dealer gets a pair of aces.  Ugh.  I had a king/jack/ten once and the dealer flipped a king/queen/ten.  What kinda bullshit is that?  I ended up walking away with the same $100 I started with, which I gave to Lindsey to put towards our vacation.

We left the casino around midnight and guess what?  The game was just ending.  Apparently it started as soon as we left and went fairly fast.  Ugh, how dumb was I?  Granted, I had a lot of fun at the casino, but I would have rather been at the game.  Oh well, live and learn I guess.  Also, my luck if we had stuck around then there would have been another storm and another delay or a postponement.

The last two pictures made me think of Gotham City and it is pretty obvious why they chose to film the new Batman film in Pittsburgh...

Treasure Hunting II

So recently, Lindsey has decided to start cleaning out all the boxes in our closet.  Most of the boxes are full of stuff from her youth, such as birthday cards, school projects, etc...Also though, there a few funny things.

My favorite part of this is the fact that she tries to sell her sister by saying she is mean and bad.  She must have realized that would not do the trick, so she adds that Kayla is also sweet.  Plus, she must have been pretty worried about the government getting their share since she noted the price was $500 + Tax.  Is there a tax on selling humans?  I am not sure.

Today is Nov. 27, 1994.  It is Sunday.  I am playing with my sisters birthday toy.  And it is the 7 dwarfs.  And my favorites dwarfs are Dopey Happy Sleepy Doc Bashful Snesy And Grumpy!
I tried to scan pages of her journal, but they would not show up since she wrote so light with pencil.  I always thought Snesy was the coolest dwarf.

Today is Sat. Feb4, 1995.  First me and Kayla were playing school in the morning.  We had fun!  Next we ate lunck I had awolful Kayla had a pan cake.  It was good.  Then we got a bath.  The water was hot.  Last we went to bed at mid night.
It took me awhile to figure out what Lindsey ate, at least until I read what Kayla ate.  Also, if you read enough of this journal, she and her sister played school way too much.  It seems like they came home from school and then immediately started playing school.  Also, she went to bed at midnight, you have no idea how funny that is to me.  She can never stay up until midnight nowadays.

8-18-96
We are at the beach it's the first night at the beach.  It's Sat. today.  I like the beach.  I like to jump the waves.  We are at Myrtle Beach.  We went to Dick's to eat.  I had fun.  Love, Lindsey.  P.S. See you tommaro.
I love that she signed this entry and said that she would see the journal tomorrow.  This is funny because she never wrote in it again.

Now, before people jump on me about making fun of her journal from when she was seven years old, allow me to say that I am not really making fun of her and she gave me permission to use this stuff.  I am excited to go to my mom's house and find some of my old writings from school and post them as well.

We also found this hoody from one of those boxes.  Unbeknownst to most of you, Lindsey was a pretty damn good long jumper in high school.  Which seems pretty improbably since she is like 5'2.  I always picture long jumpers as tall...

Beating the Red Sox and Being There to See It

I think most of you know that I hate the Red Sox.  My hatred started years ago, the exact moment was probably during the whole A-Rod trade stuff.  The Sox acted like it was so unfair that the Yankees traded for A-Rod.  They cried up and down about how the Yankees were creating a monopoly and all sorts of other bullshit.  They failed to mention that they were in the running for A-Rod, they were going to send Manny to Texas.

From that moment on, I started to really dislike Red Sox fans and it only got worse.  Anyways, the Pirates played them this weekend and there was a lot of talk about this being the most attended series in history.  I contacted my place of work to see if they had tickets and sure enough they sent me four tickets in section 120.  I decided to see if my mom and step-dad wanted to go to the game.  They said hell yeah.
She looks so cute...

Unfortunately, it was a pain in the ass to find a hotel room.  Everything in the city was booked (there were two conventions and the game), but I lucked out by finding two single rooms up near the airport.  We took a cab to the game (it cost $32) and decided to go to the casino to kill some time.

Me and Harmon (my step-dad) played three card poker, which I tried playing before on the cruise, but did not really enjoy it.  I figured I would play a few hands, if I did not like it, I would go to the blackjack table.  I lost my first $60 after a bunch of hands of getting crap.  I put another $60 in and figured if I lost this, I would go to the ATM and get money for the game and call it quits.
I think this is Youkilis swinging and missing.

I hit a straight, which put me up a good amount, but still not back to even.  It was funny because I was down to my last $20 and Harmon had to spot me the $10 so I could bet on the straight.  I then went on a pretty decent hot streak and I had a nice chip stack going.  Unfortunately, like most streaks, it came to an end and I started going back down, I was down to about $80 when I hit a straight flush, which paid me almost $400.  Lindsey and mom came over to see how we were doing, they did not believe that I just hit a straight flush, until the dealer started counting out my chips.

Lindsey then took $200 of the money and cashed it in.  I played for a little bit longer and ended up cashing out with $235.  We went to dinner at the buffet upstairs and I was a good son and paid for the meal.  We then headed over to the game.

Damn, the place was packed!  It took forever to get a beer and get to our seats.  Our seats were pretty great and there were only a few Red Sox fans in our section.  During the third inning, Lindsey and I went up to meet Offord and his future wife.  On the way back to our seats we stopped for another drink and that was when Overbay hit the three-run homer.  Damn!  I missed it.

The game was pretty intense.  Every moment seemed like the Red Sox could just score a ton of runs.  But then, the Pirates would get the guys out that needed out.  It is hard to imagine Jeff Karstens dominating that lineup, but somehow he did it.  As soon as Gonzalez hit his homer, I said to Harmon that they needed to pull Karstens.  Hurdle allowed him to stay in to give up another one and bring the game to 5-4.  Luckily the Buccos got another run and they went into the 9th inning with a two-run lead.
Hanrahan warming up...

It was great to be there for Hanrahan's entrance.  You see it on TV or watch it on YouTube and it is cool, but at the game it is one million times cooler.  Did everyone else almost have a heart-attack during that inning?  I thought Xavier Paul caught that ball, I was cheering like an idiot (like everyone else).  I seriously thought Gonzalez was going to catch up to one of those fastballs.  The entire place was on it's feet.  This was a game in June and the place was that crazy.  Can you imagine how crazy that city will be if the Buccos make the post-season?

After the game we went to Mullen's and drank a few beers outside on the corner and then took a taxi back to the hotel.  Once there, Lindsey and I went to the bar and started bullshitting with a couple of Red Sox fans.  They were actually very nice.  The one guy kept saying how great of a city Pittsburgh is and how this is the most beautiful ballpark he had ever seen.

We had a great time and we could not have asked for a better game to be at.  I cannot wait to go back down for another one.

The Return of Me

I realize I have been back for a few days now, but I was still on vacation mode and did not feel like posting anything.  I realize that today is Memorial Day and everyone is outside having cook outs and whatnot, but I am going to give you the highlights of the trip to North Carolina.

The Trip Down
We left Altoona on Saturday after I was done with work at 4:00, also we had to drop my car off to get inspected.  Our start time was sometime after 5:00.  We went for a few hours and then finally got so hungry that we had to stop outside of Winchester at the IHOP (I apologize Aunt Lori, I should have called, but it was pretty sudden when we decided to stop and eat).

Lindsey drove the entire way down because I was so tired.  I managed to stay awake though and be the navigator.  I want to point out that Virginia feels like it never ends.  We finally made it to the house at about 3:30 a.m.  We went straight to bed because we were exhausted.

Beach Days
I forgot that I am no longer 18 and that because of The Place That Shall Not Be Named, and since I no longer see the sun, I need more than SPF 30.  I laid around reading and then playing bocci.  Needless to say, by the end of the day, I was pretty damn burnt.

My chest, knees, and feet were unbelievably burnt.  In fact, I am pretty sure my feet turned purple.  The next few days I had to wear a t-shirt on the beach and keep my feet covered up.

We went and purchased some SPF 75 after that, it definitely seemed to help.

The rest of the days on the beach were spent mainly reading or taking long walks.  Lindsey and I walked two miles south one day and then three miles north the next.  The beach there is not like Myrtle Beach or Ocean City.  There is not a boardwalk, plus since the beach is relatively small, there are not tons of things to do.  It is a very beautiful place and it would probably be a great place for a family vacation, or for a beach wedding (hey, that was why we were there).

Beach Nights
We went out to eat a few times at this place called Rick's.  It was pretty nice (it was supposedly a Steelers bar, but they also had other team stuff inside, especially a Ravens jersey), the food was really good.  I had this delicious Monte Cristo  with crab-meat.  Also, at this other place, Lindsey ordered scallops wrapped in bacon, which were slightly fried.  So damn good...everything should be wrapped in bacon.

Gather around children, it is time for a funny story.  I know you like funny stories.  On Tuesday night, we went out to this place called Lo-Rei-Lei's for karaoke.  Thad (the groom) and I played pool with these guys.  And this other dude started talking to us and buying us shots of Petron (I swear that stuff will be the death of me someday).  We head back to the house and I head to bed, very drunk (I honestly do not remember coming home or the last few moments at the bar).

Apparently, I got up to piss and never came back to bed.  Lindsey looked for me, but I was nowhere to be found.  In the morning she hears people talking and goes up to find me on the pull out couch.  Unfortunately, another couple had been sleeping there.  I went up there and crawled in bed with them, but the funny thing is they did not know it.  The guy (Brett) put his arm around me and cuddled with me all night.  He woke up and kind of freaked out when he realized he was spooning a guy.  He yelled at me to get out of his bed and took the covers away, I guess I grabbed them back and rolled over to sleep.

Needless to say, I got made fun of pretty much the rest of the week for that one.  Oh well, I am pretty sure I have done that kind of thing before.  A couple of other nights, Lindsey and I went out on our own to have a few drinks.  And some of the others were spent at the house just relaxing.

The Wedding
Most of you know that I am not someone who thinks of weddings as beautiful or anything like that, but maybe it is me getting older (or maybe it has something to do with my beautiful girlfriend), but this wedding was very beautiful.  Also, I believe I have used the word beautiful in this post more times than all my other posts combined.

I half expected Lindsey to trip coming down the steps, but she did a fantastic job.

The Return
We spent some more time at the beach on Friday, but I was starting to blister and getting lightheaded, so I went up to the house and took a cool shower.  I then packed up and after awhile, Lindsey came up and she got ready and we made our way back to Pennsylvania.

Remember how I said Virginia felt like it lasted forever?  Well on the way back, I felt like we were never going to make it out of North Carolina.  The directions from Google Maps said we only had to go up this one road for 21 miles to hit the interstate, BULLSHIT!  We drove for about an hour, through some very undesirable areas (Mt. Olive is a scary town).  At one point, there were two guys out of their car about to fist fight.  So weird.

We left around 2:30 and made it home by about 1:30 (we stopped for dinner for about an hour).  As much fun as I had, I was ready to be home and in my own bed.  I woke up the next day and saw that my chest, shoulders, and arms were peeling like crazy.
Yesterday was the actual wedding reception up here in Pennsylvania and it was a great time.  We drank, we danced, we ate good food...

Below are some of the other pictures from the trip that I thought were cool:

I took this on the way down and it was of Lindsey with my phone on negative mode.  She looks like a zombie ready to eat me.  Very scary.

The first day there, I took this picture and did not realize the camera was still in negative mode.  Looked pretty cool though.

This is what the beach actually looked like.

This was Lindsey on the last day as we prepared to leave.  Doesn't she look hot?

Again, this is her before we leave.

This is the girls at the bar, pretty hot and pretty drunk.

We were pretty drunk at this point.

How funny is it that Brett had to escort Lindsey?  At the reception, during the bridle dance, I went up and danced with Brett, everyone had a great laugh.

Lindsey and the bride.

A bunch of pictures of us together.  We are such a hot couple.

This is a video of two of the guys in our group trying to sing Ice, Ice Baby.  They were pretty bad, but also funny since they just kept cracking up because the words went so fast.
